when one of the knights revives her mashin, he is presented to her as an animal which, incidentally, relates to her magical element. windam, fuu's mashin, is a giant, four-winged phoenix. (the phoenix generally only has one set of wings. windam-sama is special ^_-)

the phoenix is a mythical bird of greek and egyptian origin, associated with the sun gods of each respective culture. according to legend, only one phoenix can exist at a time. the bird resides near a cool well in arabia, where, at dawn, it bathes in the water and sings a beautiful song; a song so beautiful that the sun god stops his chariot to listen.

each phoenix lives about 500 years. when it feels its death approaching, it builds a nest of sweet-smelling wood and sets it on fire, letting itself become consumed by the flames. after it had been completely burned, a new phoenix springs from its ashes, creating an egg from the soot and placing it on the altar of the sun god.

this creature fits with fuu's trademark color of green, as green usually is associated with growth and rebirth. her magic is also associated with the earth, which brings forth new life.
